A New, Easier Way to Declare
Starting November 1, 2024, Ontario rolled out a new online portal designed to make the declaration process straightforward and stress-free. It’s simple to navigate and lets you submit everything in one place.
What You’ll Need
Before you begin, gather the following information for each property you own:
- Property address
- Property Tax ID number
- Owner details (name and contact information)
- Occupancy status whether the property is occupied, vacant, or available for rent
- Any supporting documents, such as proof of occupancy or rental agreements
Why This Matters
Failing to submit your declaration could lead to hefty penalties, including a 3% tax based on your property’s assessed value. A quick declaration now can save you from an unexpected bill later.
