Michael Garron Hospital

The Michael Garron Hospital (formerly Toronto East General Hospital) plays an important role in our communities, and Wright Sisters Group is dedicated to supporting this local institution to help care for the residents who call the east end home.

The area of Toronto that’s supported by this hospital is highly unique and one of the most diverse communities in Canada. There are more newcomers, refugees, and languages spoken in this area of town than anywhere in the city. People here are also disproportionately affected by poverty and isolation—two critical health-determining factors.

Knowing the difficulties that face many in the communities we live and work in, Wright Sisters Group has made the Michael Garron Hospital Foundation its charity of choice. We take pride in helping the hospital provide better care to those who need it, and our clients are an integral part of our ability to carry out continued philanthropy and investment in the community.

Causes We [Care] [About]

Organizations We [Support]

We’re committed to supporting organizations that are doing noble work.

  • Children’s Miracle Network: Since 1999 Wright Sisters Group has donated a portion of each sale to this organization, which supports various institutions including SickKids hospital.
  • Michael Garron Hospital: We’ve donated over $155,000 with the help of our clients. Every time someone works with us we make a donation on their behalf.
  • We donate to Plan Canada’s Gifts of Hope charity.
  • A cause particularly close to our heart and recognizable on every Wright Sisters Group “for-sale” sign: the “Sold On A Cure” Program. This cause helps to fight against breast cancer, and works to find cures that will create a future that exists without the disease.

Community [Initiatives]

We love to support our residents, local businesses, and neighbourhoods in any way we can.

  • Leslieville Farmers’ Market: We are thrilled to partner with the Leslieville Farmers’ Market in support of live music and community connection! For more information and where to find us this summer click here
  • 2024 Beaches Easter Parade: We’re a proud sponsor of the Beaches Easter Parade. We love bringing our community together and creating unforgettable memories!
  • “Surprise and Delight”: we organize events for our neighbourhood, like our Ice Cream Days or Bike Roaming The Beach, giving away complimentary treats on a hot summer day.
  • Patio Partners: During the shutdown, we sponsored six local restaurants in The Beaches until they could open again. We also sponsored Queen East Eats TO in Leslieville which helped run multiple patios in the neighbourhood.
  • Christmas Market: Chef Corbin hosts his annual Christmas Market in our office, and we host two Santa photo days for families to take photos for free. We also collect donations for Red Door Family Shelter.
  • Neighbourhood Clean Up: We host a yearly Community Clean Up where our team partners with others in the community to clean up Dentonia Park for Earth Day.
  • 2nd Annual Family Skate Day: We host a yearly skate event with our clients/community at Ted Reeve Arena, with hot chocolate and refreshments.

Pandemic [Support]

We rallied with our community to get through this unprecedented event, together.

  • Distributing PPE: The pandemic hit hard and our healthcare heroes needed our support. We organized the delivery of two truckloads of PPE to our local hospital.
  • Vaccines: When the folks from Michael Garron Hospital called to ask if we could help get the vaccine rolled out in our neighbourhood, we thought bringing our ice cream truck to the event may make getting the shot a little more fun. We managed to get 1,000 jabs delivered in no time, and gave away an ice cream cone for each one!

Why It [Matters]

Philanthropy is a core belief held by every member of our team. Wright Sisters Group is an east end, family-owned small business and we believe it’s our responsibility and privilege to support the communities that have allowed us to thrive personally and professionally.

Our clients are more than a professional connection to us, they are our neighbours and friends. They are the people who make the communities we love so great.
